[Hiring] Advocacy Mobilization Intern @AARP

Role Description

AARP is seeking talented individuals to join our Mobilization Campaign team to create and execute various advocacy campaigns that drive meaningful change. This paid internship is expected to start in Fall 2026.

• Find creative and innovative ways to modernize our response process and improve our speed of response to emails from activists.
• Support reporting efforts to help tell our story both internally and externally.
• Draft presentations and processes within brand guidelines; draft and review advocacy communications.
• Draft compelling national advocacy text messages for AARP's priority issue campaigns, including:
  • Voter engagement
  • Social security
  • Caregiving
  • Prescription drugs
• Work on special projects under our national and state advocacy email, text messaging, direct mail, and advocacy fundraising portfolios.
• Assist with AARP's online event management and organizing tool, Mobilize America.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university, rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students, and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship.
• Must be a self-starter and adaptable, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities.
• Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation.
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Exceptional verbal/written communication skills.
• This role has the option to be remote.
• AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position.

Benefits

• The hourly range is $18.40 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates.
• Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
