Role Description
As a Technical Documentation Writer on the Advocacy Team, your expertise will shape the way developers interact with our products by delivering clear, comprehensive, and user-centered documentation. You’ll take ownership of devcenter.upsun.com and other public documentation initiatives, ensuring developers have the knowledge and tools they need to use Platform.sh and Upsun effectively.
- Craft technical tutorials, reference material, and how-to guides that help developers make the most of Upsun.
- Continuously refine devcenter.upsun.com by prioritizing user feedback, monitoring documentation performance, and making strategic updates to improve clarity, accuracy, and engagement.
- Work with technical, product, and support teams to ensure documentation reflects the latest product updates and best practices.
- Proactively identify pain points in documentation workflows and initiate discussions to explore innovative, efficient solutions.
- Serve as one of the main points of contact for documentation-related issues, driving impactful improvements to user experience and product understanding.
Qualifications
- A caring mindset and the ability to think from other perspectives.
- Proven experience in technical writing within tech environments, using docs-as-code practices and Git-based workflows.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as PHP, Python, JavaScript, or Go, and an understanding of CI/CD and devops ecosystems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects end-to-end—prioritizing work, meeting deadlines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in an asynchronous environment.
- Strong organizational skills and a sharp eye for document structure, clarity, and consistency.
- Ability to break down complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly language.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong editing and proofreading abilities to ensure high documentation quality.
Requirements
- Experience with modern cloud architectures, development processes, and troubleshooting applications.
- A track record of creating a variety of educational materials beyond written documentation.
- Experience with the Hugo Static Site Generator (SSG) and working with custom themes.
- Familiarity with content design principles or UX writing.
