Role Description

This position will operate on a remote basis within the U.S. We are currently looking for a Streaming & AV (Audio/Visual) Author to join our team on a 1099 freelance basis. This is someone who can create original, high-quality content regarding streaming platforms, smart TVs, home theater setups, and audio/visual hardware in a timely manner.

• Research and write original buying guides, tutorials, and news specifically related to streaming hardware, platforms, and AV setups.
• Extract the core of a story quickly to deliver informative and timely reports in a fast-paced environment.
• Pitch unique, reader-obsessed article topics (e.g., Plex optimization, Roku tips, HDMI standards, Smart TV troubleshooting) to our Editorial team regularly.
• Input work into our in-house CMS, as well as find and format images, according to our guidelines.
• Stay up to date on the latest streaming ecosystem updates, AV hardware news, and home theater products.
• Coordinate with the editorial team for assignments and feedback.
• Follow Pocket-lint’s general Editorial Guidelines while producing unique and high-quality content.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in writing and editing technology or AV content in the English language.
• Deep knowledge and experience with the streaming ecosystem (Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV) and media servers (Plex) are mandatory.
• Expert knowledge and broad familiarity with home theater hardware (Smart TVs, HDMI standards, soundbars, audio formats, etc.).
• Ability to think analytically; providing insightful commentary that applauds or criticizes industry developments.
• Proficiency with SEO practices and experience using a custom CMS.
• A self-starter attitude with a passion for staying ahead of the tech curve.
