Role Description

Fierce Pharma is seeking a sharp and eager journalist to join our expanding team. We are looking for a reporter to deliver daily news and a steady flow of features that put the news in context for our readers. This beat focuses on the pharmaceutical industry, including:

• Major global drugmakers
• Smaller specialty companies
• The medicines they develop and launch
• Clinical and regulatory milestones that shape their pipelines
• Quarterly earnings and financial performance
• Manufacturing operations
• Business strategies, deals, and competitive pressures

The ideal candidate excels at:

• Building sources and breaking news
• Digging into the why and how behind daily stories
• Bringing strong news judgment, commitment to accuracy, and editorial integrity
• Taking ownership of major stories
• Bringing personality and creativity to the work

As our Senior Writer, you’ll support Questex’s success by:

• Writing daily news stories and longer-form articles covering the pharmaceutical industry
• Developing the beat and cultivating a range of sources
• Researching government databases, court documents, and other public sources
• Brainstorming and developing engaging features
• Contributing to podcasts and other multimedia projects
• Attending key medical meetings and industry conferences

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a newsroom, preferably covering the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related writing-intensive field
• Strong writing skills and proficiency in AP style
• A competitive spirit and drive to break news
• A positive attitude, "Fierce" work ethic, and enthusiasm for teamwork
