Role Description
The Senior Manager, Editorial & Content is responsible for developing and producing clear, effective content across Empower Pharmacy's corporate communications, website, newsroom, and marketing channels. Reporting to the VP of Corporate Communications, this role serves as a lead writer and editor, supporting business priorities through audience-focused content that strengthens awareness, understanding, and trust in Empower's personalized, compounded medications.
This is a hands-on storytelling role for a strong writer; someone with a journalistβs instincts who can tell a great story in any format, producing a steady stream of articles, bylines, whitepapers, website copy, social posts, short-form stories, and marketing content. Success in this position requires strong writing and editing skills, comfort managing multiple stakeholders and review cycles, and the ability to translate complex healthcare and pharmacy topics into clear, compelling stories that audiences actually want to read.
The role partners closely with communications, marketing, digital, legal, and clinical teams to plan, develop, and optimize content within a highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities

Content Creation and Storytelling

Serve as Empowerβs lead storyteller and writer for corporate communications, website content, and other marketing collateral.

Write, edit, and publish a steady stream of content in every format β from long-form articles and whitepapers to quick-turn posts and short-form stories β across digital and marketing channels while managing multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines.

Shape executive, corporate, and thought-leadership narratives that advance business priorities and strengthen stakeholder trust, applying strong news judgment to identify and develop story angles across the business, from patient impact to scientific innovation.

Editorial Standards and Collaboration

Help maintain editorial standards, content review processes, and quality controls to ensure brand consistency, accuracy, compliance, and reputational integrity.

Lead cross-functional content planning and execution in partnership with digital, marketing, clinical, legal, and freelance contributors.

Build alignment, resolve tradeoffs, and support complex work across functions and levels.

Content Innovation and Optimization

Take an innovative approach to content, stretching a single piece of content across multiple formats and channels, including video, and using AI and analytics to build, shape, and scale content efficiently.

Advance responsible use of SEO, generative engine optimization, and emerging content technologies to improve discoverability, efficiency, and quality.

Use audience, search, social listening, competitive, and performance insights to prioritize opportunities, manage narrative risk, and optimize the content portfolio.

Performance and Accountability

Track content performance, including audience growth, site traffic, and contribution to marketing-qualified leads, and adjust the editorial plan based on performance against those targets.

Define success measures, report insights and recommendations to leadership, and adjust investments based on business and reputation impact.

Balance speed and precision, moving quickly on time-sensitive content without sacrificing accuracy or compliance.
Qualifications

Exceptional writing, editing, and editorial judgment, supported by a portfolio that includes journalism-style writing and storytelling across long- and short-form content, executive and corporate communications, website copy and page development, B2B marketing campaigns, and long-form content.

Ability to translate complex healthcare, pharmacy, and business topics into engaging, easy-to-understand content that supports business and communications objectives.

Working knowledge of content analytics, SEO, social listening, content management systems, and responsible AI-enabled tools.

Skilled at managing multiple projects, deadlines, review cycles, and competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail and delivering consistently high-quality work.
Requirements

Seven or more years of progressive experience in journalism, editorial, corporate communications, content strategy, or content marketing, including leadership of complex, cross-functional initiatives.

Demonstrated ability to build scalable editorial operations, influence senior stakeholders, and lead through others without direct authority.

Track record of driving measurable content outcomes, such as site traffic growth or MQLs, and working at speed on tight turnarounds without sacrificing accuracy.

Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience; experience in healthcare, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or another highly regulated industry strongly preferred. Background in journalism, a newsroom, or an agency editorial team is a strong plus.
