Role Description
We're seeking an experienced Scientific Communications Contractor with expertise in manuscript development, publication planning and strategy, scientific writing, and medical affairs support. This position is ideal for an independent professional who enjoys working on a project basis and partnering with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.
What You'll Do

Lead the creation, review, and submission of scientific publications and manuscripts

Develop and review a wide range of scientific and medical communications materials

Support publication planning and publication strategy initiatives

Provide scientific support for marketed and investigational products
-
Interpret and communicate complex scientific and clinical data to healthcare professional audiences

Evaluate scientific literature and integrate evidence-based findings into client deliverables
-
Create and review medical affairs and scientific communication materials
-
Support scientific exchange activities
-
Ensure deliverables meet quality, regulatory, compliance, and client requirements

Serve as a lead resource across clients, brands, workstreams, or therapeutic areas
-
Mentor team members and provide scientific guidance when appropriate
-
Contribute to special projects and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications

PharmD, PhD, or MD
-
Minimum of 5 years of experience in manuscript development, publication planning, medical communications, medical affairs, scientific communications, medical information, or a related healthcare field

Direct experience with publication and manuscript creation, review, and submission

Experience developing one or more of the following:

Scientific manuscripts and publications

Scientific slide decks

Medical information materials

Standard response documents

Medical affairs materials
-
Dossiers
-
Strong scientific writing, editing, and critical appraisal skills

Ability to interpret clinical data and scientific literature

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong organizational and project management skills

Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Requirements

Experience serving as a lead for clients, brands, therapeutic areas, or workstreams

Experience with publication/manuscript review and submissions to high-impact journals

Experience developing publication plans

Experience creating scientific narratives

Experience supporting advisory boards or symposia

Experience developing training and educational materials

Experience working with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device clients

Client-facing experience

Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) certification preferred, but not required
