Role Description
The Managing Editor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and quality of SANS coursebooks. You will lead a team of book processors and copyeditors, providing training and answering questions, while maintaining quality control standards. Your role is essential in providing our authors with a positive update experience and ensuring our students receive well-crafted and error-free books.

Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor a team of courseware specialists and copyeditors, providing clear guidance, feedback, and training to ensure their professional development and adherence to quality standards.
- Analyze and address any production issues, taking corrective action as necessary.

Quality Assurance:
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure all books meet the highest standards, including grammar, spelling, formatting, and overall content accuracy.

Process Improvement:
- Evaluate and improve existing workflows to increase efficiency and productivity. Identify opportunities for automation and implementation of relevant tools or software.
- Assist the Director of Courseware Management in identifying and implementing new standards.

Project Management:
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing schedules, priorities, and resources to meet deadlines.

Communication:
- Collaborate and provide constructive feedback with authors, book processors, copyeditors, and other cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong understanding of grammar, punctuation, and style guides
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Prior copyediting experience
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in editing, publishing, or managing content production
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Publishing, or a related field
