Role Description

We are looking for a highly driven full-time India Reporter and Newsletter Writer to cover India's travel industry and take full ownership of Skift's India-specific newsletter. This is a remote position based in India. As part of a fully distributed company with journalists and staff across the globe, this role requires the independence, discipline, and communication skills to thrive in a remote environment. You will set your own daily agenda, meet strict deadlines, and collaborate seamlessly across time zones.

By breaking news and crafting original reporting, you ensure our audience understands the forces shaping one of the world's most critical travel markets. Your ownership of the weekly newsletter will provide industry leaders with an authoritative, must-read resource that delivers insights they simply cannot get anywhere else.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of professional experience in business reporting (B2B or business publishing experience is preferred, but consumer media experience will be considered).
• A working familiarity with the travel industries in India, ideally backed by extensive contacts within the travel sector.
• Exceptional writing and copy-editing skills.
• Proficiency in WordPress, basic photo editing tools, Google Docs, and other remote working tools.
• Astute and ethical judgment in your everyday actions.
• A deep passion for the world of travel, paired with enthusiasm and dedication that drives how you collaborate with your teammates.

Requirements

• Report and write across formats—breaking news, original reporting, analysis, and enterprise stories.
• Move fast and think big: file quickly on time-sensitive stories while keeping one eye on the longer trends shaping India's travel economy.
• Draw on industry sources, regulatory filings, corporate disclosures, and your own original legwork.
• Own, curate, and write a weekly newsletter that serves as an authoritative read on what's happening across India's travel industry and why it matters.
• Stay deeply read-in on travel news globally and in India, across Skift and the competitive landscape.
• Travel to cover industry events, our own conferences, and participate in media appearances when the opportunity arises.
• Communicate openly, share information regularly with colleagues, and form strong, successful working relationships.
