Role Description
As a Content Engineer in the Cybersecurity vertical, you will be responsible for owning the content lifecycle from concept to publication. Youβll work closely with Relationship Leads, Growth Leads, and Authors to shape each learning product so it delivers quality and real-world impact.

Evaluate proposals and outlines with a focus on audience relevance, real-world applicability, and differentiation.

Perform substantive edits to strengthen clarity, structure, and learning outcomes.

Ensure content goes beyond theory to include practical attack scenarios, defensive strategies, and decision-making trade-offs.

Coach authors to translate expertise into actionable, hands-on learning.

Guide authors to include real-world case studies, tools, and workflows.

Build strong relationships with cybersecurity experts, practitioners, and researchers.

Collaborate on product launches and positioning for cybersecurity audiences.

Enhance books with labs, simulations, red-team/blue-team exercises, and walkthroughs.

Contribute to derived formats such as threat briefings, research explainers, live hacking demos, and cohort-based training.

Track trends across threat landscapes, vulnerabilities, compliance requirements, and AI-driven security challenges.

Benchmark against competing learning resources and certifications.

Feed insights into product strategy to keep Packt at the forefront of cybersecurity education.

Own quality sign-off for all products.

Balance speed-to-market with depth and accuracy.

Ensure technical correctness, clarity, and adherence to ethical/security standards.
Qualifications

4+ years in editorial/content development for technical or instructional products.

Ability to translate complex security concepts into clear, structured learning.

Strong author/SME management experience.

Excellent English-language proficiency and editorial judgment.

Quality-first mindset with strong attention to detail.

Ability to contribute beyond editing, including labs, simulations, and multi-format learning products.
