Role Description
Work with the Director/Executive Content Developer and Senior/Supervising Content Developer to help develop new print and digital content for the writing strand of Benchmark’s new core program.
- Coordinate with content developers at all levels, reviewers, and editors, in developing content for teachers, students, and families, in both print and digital formats, to ensure that writing and editing guidelines are observed.
- Review, edit, and approve manuscript and production stages, working directly with copyeditors, graphic designers, and photo researchers.
- Tag learning outcomes in manuscript according to writing and editing guidelines.
- Revise and edit manuscript as requested to incorporate feedback from Professional Development, Sales and Marketing, Editorial management and outside reviewers and SMEs/consultants.
- Attend regularly scheduled and impromptu meetings with team members to discuss content, workflow, and product status.
- Create or update Product Library documentation and product metadata as requested.
- As requested, communicate with Sales and Marketing to support the development of sales support tools.
- Track programmatic pieces, including learning outcomes, Lexile ranges, and student supports.
- Review and evaluate reports from the Learning Outcome database.
- Read professional journals to increase market and pedagogical knowledge.
- Complete time tracking documentation on a weekly basis.
- Aid in the QA of new digital products.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience developing literacy materials for an educational publisher.
- B.A. in English, education, or a related field (M.A. a plus).
- Superior writing, editing and project management skills.
- Current knowledge of language, literacy and educational standards, expectations and requirements.
- Intermediate-Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
- Basic proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
- Comfortable juggling several projects concurrently.
- Able to work collaboratively with other departments (e.g., design and marketing).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Teaching experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of Foundational Skills Development and Phonics is a plus.
