[Hiring] Systems Engineer @GitStart

Role Description

As a Systems Engineer, you'll help to scale the engineering teams of our global clients and build cool stuff. From designing advanced applications to integrating with external APIs, your expertise will drive innovation and success.

GitStart is a community of developers that turns tickets into PRs for YC startups to unicorns.

Reasons to join

• 🌱 Grow your skills - Write and review code from day one, get daily review from peers and senior/staff engineers, join technical/PM/communication growth tracks.
• 🌍 World class codebases - Condense decades of learnings into years by working on the most technical codebases in the planet.
• 🤖 Become AI native - Get access to all new AI development tools as they come out, from GPT-4 to agents that auto-create tickets based on your PR comments.
• 👩‍💻 Fully remote and async - Work when you want, where you want, and how you want. No micromanaging.
• 🚀 Gain open source experience - Build up OSS profile and make contributions to a number of important repositories.
• 🤝 Build lasting connections - Bond with people from 15+ countries, across game nights and local events.

Your Technical Skills

• Mastery in System Programming (C++, Rust, or GoLang).
• Able to open up abstractions (i.e ability to debug down into source code for C++ / Rust / GoLang and understand how things work).
• Solid networking experience (WebSockets / TCP / HTTP / UDP).
• Strong command of memory management and concurrency (thread-safe data structures, atomics, understanding weak vs strong refs).
• Strong ability in data structures and modelling - ability to model different systems and integrate them.
• Strong grip on OS level sys-calls and how they map into application-level codebases.
• Ability to understand large codebases without getting lost in them.
• Strong understanding of high-performance computing and parallelism (Queues, Multi-threading and message passing).
• Key eye for beautiful interfaces and abstractions (API Design, System Architecture Docs).
• Ability to master different domains very quickly.
• Excellent at documenting and creating technical design docs.
• Fine eye for edge cases (i.e ability to find out what breaks things and thinking deep into what could go wrong).

You’re a fit if

• You are insanely hungry.
• You've showcased extreme ownership in the past.
• You learn on the go - ability to jump quickly into large unknowns and start to tackle them bit by bit.
• You learn by doing - tinker and play with things until they make sense.
• You have a keen eye for feedback loops to solve problems (iterate to get somewhere instead of trying to aim for the finish line).
• A bit of a perfectionist. You care deeply about your craft.

What to expect

If you make it through the application stage, here is what you can expect:

• Technical Assessment
• Technical Interview
• Hackweek (Work on 2-5 issues on a large public OSS codebase)
• Full time offer
