Role Description

We are looking for a talented Solution Architect- Senior to join our team specializing in Systems/Information Technology for our Corporate organization in Columbus, IN. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

• Design scalable, reliable system architectures by defining component structures, allocating functionality, and establishing effective interfaces between systems and applications.
• Develop and recommend optimized technical solutions by evaluating multiple design options, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and aligning outcomes with business and technology requirements.
• Champion enterprise architecture standards, ensuring solutions leverage approved technology stacks, design patterns, and best practices across the organization.
• Create and maintain global reference architectures that promote consistency, standardization, and reusable technology building blocks across teams and regions.
• Influence solution development by driving architectural improvements and translating technical strategy into practical, business-focused technology solutions.
• Build strong partnerships with business stakeholders, customers, and technical teams to deliver innovative solutions that maximize business value and user adoption.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, software trends, and tools while leading pilot programs and proof-of-concept initiatives to validate new capabilities and future opportunities.
• Assess infrastructure capacity and future technology needs while providing strategic recommendations that support growth, performance, and long-term business objectives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of total professional experience in software development, application engineering, or related technical roles.
• Prior hands-on experience as a Software Developer and/or Technical Lead is required.
• Complex Application Solution Design utilizing technologies like Java/Angular/Kubernetes/.Net/PhP is needed.
• Architecture development framework and methodology to design systems landscape and interactions within enterprise, utilizing Mulesoft, Azure APIM, Azure Data Factory, etc.
• Deep knowledge in DevSecOps areas of GitHub Actions, Copado, SonarQube and Veracode to suggest development teams better their code standards.

• Architecture System Design - Defines and develops architecture deliverables, artifacts and building blocks (e.g. conceptual models, logical models, physical network designs, etc.) by applying architecture principles through the use of an architecture development framework and methodology that enables the organization to transform its systems in a controlled manner in response to business needs.
• Solution Design - Creates and defines the solution design complete with instrumentation and measurement, using industry standards and tools, version control, and build and test automation to synthesize diagrams, models and documentation in order to build a solution that meets buildability, business, technical, security, governance and compliance requirements.
• Solution Functional Fit Analysis - Composes and decomposes a system into its component parts using procedures, tools and work aides for the purpose of studying how well the component parts were designed, purchased and configured to interact holistically to meet business, technical, security, governance and compliance requirements.
• System Solution Architecture - Creates solution designs and patterns using the Cummins Technical Reference Model (CTRM), CLEAN standards, and existing reference patterns to maintain alignment to Cummins standards.
• Project Issue and Risk Management - Manages the process to identify, assess and prioritize issues and risks using recommended tools and disciplines. Drives actions to minimize, monitor and control risks and issues and to maximize the most positive outcomes possible.
• Values differences - Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

• College, university, or equivalent degree in relevant technical discipline, or relevant equivalent experience required.
• This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

• 6+ years of experience in solution or system architecture in large, complex organizations.
• Demonstrated architecture and design experience, strong knowledge of modern architectural patterns, cloud platforms and integration technologies.
