Role Description

Nexaminds is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Python and solid Java experience to design, build, optimize, and scale high-performance backend systems and cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate is passionate about building modern backend solutions with Python while also contributing to Java-based services in a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment. Experience with AI/LLM integrations is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of professional backend engineering experience with strong Python development skills.
• Solid experience with Java.
• Hands-on experience building scalable backend services, REST APIs, and data pipelines using Python and Java.
• Deep expertise with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience designing and maintaining microservices and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI/ML backend integration patterns.
• Experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve development efficiency and code quality.
• Strong Application Security (AppSec) mindset, with experience identifying and remediating codebase and dependency vulnerabilities.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across cross-functional product, data, and infrastructure teams.
• Strong written and verbal English proficiency.

Requirements

• Design, build, and deploy scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines using Python and Java on Google Cloud Platform.
• Develop new backend capabilities primarily in Python while maintaining and enhancing existing Java services.
• Integrate AI/LLM capabilities into backend applications and support modern AI-driven workflows.
• Modernize and optimize cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.
• Leverage GitHub Copilot and other AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality.
• Proactively identify, prioritize, and remediate security vulnerabilities to ensure application safety and data protection.
• Conduct code reviews, promote best engineering practices, maintain high test coverage, and produce clear technical documentation.
• Collaborate closely with product, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver high-quality backend solutions.
