Role Description
The Enterprise and Platform teams support our largest clients by providing scalable, reliable infrastructure and solutions for engineering teams working on complex CAD, PDM workflows. As a Director, you'll be a technical leader and people manager, responsible for guiding the team to technical decisions for production services, helping prioritize and organize the team's work. You will manage a group of 5-10 engineers on a Backend Software Engineering Team and work closely with your design and product management counterparts to build user journeys that unleash the potential of our future customers.
Qualifications
- 10-15 years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or related fields, with deep expertise in designing and building distributed data intensive systems.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent software development experience.
Requirements
- Strong technical acumen and ability to act as a credible technical advisor to the team and review the team's code.
- Effective communicator on technical topics within the team and across teams.
- Ability to integrate technical and customer/business needs and priorities.
- Experience with one or more of the leading cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Proven track record in building and operating platforms with an emphasis on developer experience.
- Proficiency in Java programming language backed by solid computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures.
- Extensive experience developing core backend infrastructure systems and services using Java, Spring and MongoDB.
- Extensive experience in building and scaling cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) for data platforms, with a strong focus on high availability, fault tolerance, and cost-efficiency.
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and operational best practices.
- Experience building and supporting large enterprise customers with complex security, delegation, and collaboration needs.
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
- Providing guidance and technical support for junior engineers, helping them to develop technical skills through code reviews, one-on-one meetings and training sessions.
- Ability to lead design and implementation of complex software systems, ensuring high quality code and adherence to best practices.
