Role Description
As a Director of Engineering, you will lead engineering efforts to design and deliver scalable Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and metadata-driven connector frameworks for data-centric use cases. This role is pivotal in driving innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centric outcomes for an advanced data ecosystem.
You will oversee a distributed engineering organisation, shaping its technical direction and fostering a high-performance engineering culture that delivers transformative solutions for global customers leveraging data-driven insights.
What Impact will you create?
- Enable end users to seamlessly integrate, manage, and scale their data workflows across the Atlan platform.
- Leverage metadata-driven automation and cutting-edge PaaS capabilities to redefine how businesses optimize data pipelines.
- Develop next-generation data integration frameworks to support modern data management challenges.
- Address key challenges in the data connector ecosystem, such as high support volumes, integration gaps, and inefficiencies in managing data flows.
- Advance platform capabilities to empower organisations to scale data solutions globally, leveraging low-code/no-code frameworks and metadata automation.
What will you do?

Strategic Vision & Leadership:
- Shape and deliver a comprehensive Connector Frameworks ecosystem, emphasizing scalability, automation, and enterprise-grade readiness for diverse data workflows.
- Define the technical strategy for metadata-driven data integration that ensures seamless interoperability across systems and reduces time-to-value for customers.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to craft and execute a multi-year engineering roadmap that aligns with broader business goals and product innovations.

Team Leadership & Talent Development:
- Lead a diverse, global engineering team, to deliver impactful solutions.
- Build a strong engineering leadership pipeline, providing mentorship and fostering a growth mindset within the organisation.
- Champion diversity, inclusion, and equity to create a collaborative and innovative team culture.

Operational Excellence:
- Drive modernisation efforts, ensuring platform reliability, scalability, and security, while meeting enterprise-grade performance standards.
- Establish and enforce engineering best practices for system design, operational efficiency, and data security.
- Leverage metrics-driven processes to monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve platform performance.

- Address critical customer needs by streamlining data connector onboarding and improving metadata management across the data lifecycle.
- Drive AI-powered solutions to simplify complex integration workflows and automate routine data operations, enhancing customer experiences.
- Act as a trusted partner to customers, ensuring that platform solutions are aligned with real-world data challenges and business outcomes.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in data engineering, PaaS, or data-driven ecosystems.
- Proven ability to design and scale secure, enterprise-grade data platforms, including multi-cloud architectures and API-first design.
Requirements
- Extensive experience leading large, distributed engineering teams, with demonstrated success in building scalable platform marketplaces and fostering high-performing teams.
- Strong track record in aligning technical strategies with overarching business objectives.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and external partners.
- Deep understanding of customer data challenges and the ability to deliver practical, scalable solutions to meet evolving needs.
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose inefficiencies in data workflows and implement effective improvements.
