Role Description

The Technical Sales Lead plays a key role in supporting the presales process by providing early-stage technical validation, application insight, and solution alignment for large, often customized, HVAC projects. This role bridges the gap between Sales and Applications Engineering, improving project qualification accuracy and ensuring high-quality technical support for internal teams and external stakeholders. This position is part of a strategic initiative to build a scalable technical sales organization that supports STULZ’s rapid growth in the mission-critical and data center markets.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Sales and Application Support
  • Lead the technical review and qualification of complex opportunities before engagement by Applications Engineering.
  • Serve as a technical resource for Regional Sales Managers, Key Account Managers, and Manufacturer Reps to support system design conversations and application alignment.
  • Participate in early-stage sales calls and consultant/customer meetings (expected travel up to 30%) to ensure accurate technical positioning and reduce downstream rework.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Applications Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing to ensure technical alignment on capabilities, tools, and documentation.
  • Provide feedback to improve qualification processes, application standards, and sales tools.
• Documentation and Process Support
  • Ensure clear and complete documentation of system requirements and project assumptions prior to handoff.
  • Support the development of qualification templates and processes that improve response time and reduce inefficiencies.

Qualifications

• 4 - 7 years of experience in Applications Engineering, HVAC design, technical sales support, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and psychometrics, particularly in data center or mission-critical environments.
• Ability to interpret and communicate technical concepts to both engineering and commercial stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM and ERP systems preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline preferred.

Requirements

• Experience working directly with customers, consultants, or sales teams in a pre-sales or technical advisory capacity (preferred but not required).
• Exposure to highly customized product applications or mission-critical environments (preferred but not required).
