Role Description

We are looking for a driven and customer-focused Sales Person and Assistant Manager to join our retail team. This role is ideal for a strong salesperson who wants to achieve excellent sales results while also developing into a future leadership position. You will be responsible for growing sales, building customer relationships, supporting the Sales Manager, mentoring junior sales staff, and stepping up to help manage the store when required.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Achieve and exceed sales targets and KPIs set by management.
• Visit companies with fleets, motor dealers and other potential clients to sell products and services.
• Advise customers on product availability, costs, performance and the most suitable options (including correct sizing, application, repair vs replacement decisions, etc.).
• Identify and actively promote additional sales opportunities such as rims, batteries, wipers, performance products and other value-added items.
• “Sell up” on specials and promotions where appropriate.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular visits, follow-ups, after-sales service and prompt resolution of queries or complaints.
• Interpret and explain alignment and inspection reports to customers, assisting with fault-finding.
• Generate quotations, process orders, create and check invoices for accuracy, and handle related administrative documentation.
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections, noting any damages or valuables present.
• Inspect tyres and rims, identifying causes of defects or wear.
• Drive vehicles when required to verify defects.
• Perform Assistant Manager duties, including managing the store and staff in the Sales Manager’s absence (with support from regional management).
• Provide sales support to the Sales Manager and actively mentor less experienced sales team members.
• Complete the future manager development / training programme.
• Maintain a high level of product and service knowledge at all times.
• Manage incoming calls professionally and ensure timely follow-up.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping in your work area and the store.
• Travel to customers, other branches and training sessions as required.
• Present performance against KPIs to management when requested.
• Perform any other reasonable job-related duties as requested by management.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 (Matric) with a valid driver’s licence (compulsory).
• Preferred: Diploma in Sales & Marketing or related field.
• Minimum 2 years’ sales experience (2–5 years preferred), ideally in a retail or automotive environment.
• Proven ability to achieve sales targets and build customer relationships.
• Strong customer orientation with excellent communication skills (both in person and by phone).
• Ability and willingness to mentor others and step into a leadership support role.
• Proactive, resilient, target-driven and able to think both conceptually and in detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills, integrity and honesty (especially when handling cash or financial transactions).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
• Willingness to travel for customer visits and training, and to work flexible hours when required.
