Role Description
The Regional Director, I & I is the direct manager and strategic field leader for a regional team of Field Reimbursement Managers supporting Pfizerβs I & I portfolio. FRMs report directly to this role and operate under its strategic direction, day-to-day guidance, compliance oversight, and performance management. The Regional Director leads a team of field-based access leaders who integrate patient journey ownership, reimbursement subject matter expertise, payer-policy navigation, HCP office education, and account-level access strategy to remove barriers and improve appropriate patient access.
The Regional Director is accountable for the full patient access experience delivered by the team β from patient enrollment and needs assessment through therapy initiation, continuation, case resolution, and HCP office engagement. This leader sets the strategic vision and operational standards for the FRM team in alignment with the Pfizer Specialty Care Patient Solutions Access and Reimbursement plan, brand priorities, and compliance requirements. The Regional Director ensures FRMs operate in close coordination with Field Sales, Key Account Directors, hub partners, Patient Solutions, Market Access, Brand, Legal/Compliance, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

Direct Management of Field Reimbursement Managers

Serve as the direct supervisor for all regional FRMs.

Direct and oversee FRM execution as field-based access leaders.

Set and enforce performance expectations aligned to national KPIs.

Conduct regular field rides, call coaching, performance reviews, and individual development conversations.

Lead hiring, onboarding, and performance management for the regional FRM team.

Ensure all FRM activity is conducted consistently with Pfizer's mission and compliance standards.

Manage regional budget, including headcount planning, travel spend, and program resources.

Patient Access & Enrollment
-
Coach and hold FRMs accountable for end-to-end patient journey leadership.

Monitor and address friction points in the patient access journey.

Serve as an escalation resource for complex patient access cases.

Champion the approved consent enrollment model.

Ensure FRMs consistently apply a patient-first, non-clinical support model.

Reimbursement Expertise, Payer Policy & Access Resolution

Build and sustain team-level reimbursement expertise across regional payer landscape.

Identify payer policy trends and communicate insights proactively.
-
Provide oversight and escalation support for payer-related access resolution activities.

Partner with market access, trade, and HEOR teams.

Translate complex payer and reimbursement policy into clear guidance.

Provider Education, Account Strategy & System Optimization

Establish standards for compliant HCP and office staff education.

Lead regional account-level access strategy.

Serve as a strategic reimbursement and access subject matter expert.

Coach FRMs to participate appropriately in account planning.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Serve as the regional access leadership point of coordination.

Maintain strong relationships with Brand and other cross-functional partners.

Partner to identify systemic barriers and align resources.

Coordinate with compliance and legal as needed.

Lead a Patients First strategy with leadership and cross-functional partners.

Reporting, Insights & Strategic Influence

Track, interpret, and report regional performance metrics.

Aggregate regional FRM insights and translate those insights into actionable recommendations.

Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions.

Use field data and market access intelligence to guide coaching priorities.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD) preferred.

Minimum 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical field operations, patient services, reimbursement, or access/hub management.

Minimum 3β5+ years of people management experience.
-
Direct experience with specialty pharmacy, hub programs, or patient support services.

Strong working knowledge of the access and reimbursement landscape.
-
Working knowledge of medical and pharmacy billing.
-
Proven ability to build reimbursement subject matter expertise across a team.
-
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence across cross-functional teams.
-
Demonstrated ability to manage a large geographic territory and travel 50β60% of the time.

Valid US driverβs license and driving record in compliance with company standards.
Preferred
-
Experience in I & I, or rare disease therapeutic areas.

Familiarity with Pfizer hub infrastructure.

Prior experience leading Access and Reimbursement roles.

Track record of improving enrollment metrics or time-to-therapy outcomes.

Existing relationships with regional payer medical directors.

Experience with product launches in the access and reimbursement space.

Experience leading through ambiguity in highly regulated environments.
