Role Description

The Scientific Project Manager, Data and Informatics Solutions serves as the primary point of contact for client sponsors on the data and analysis components of their programs. This role is client-facing and requires strong customer focus and an understanding of client needs and timelines. Essential job duties include:

• Helping scope data and analysis deliverables in collaboration with Business Development.
• Coordinating with the Data Engineering and Bioinformatics team to stage and execute deliveries.
• Performing quality control on outgoing data.
• Recognizing revenue once deliveries are complete.
• Preparing analyses, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Collaborating with Business Development to enhance client relationships and facilitate continued business for Champions Oncology.

Duties, responsibilities, and productivity expectations include:

• Participating as the scientific technical lead in client meetings related to potential and current data and analysis opportunities, providing pre-sales support in conjunction with Business Development.
• Managing delivery, data access, and scoped bioinformatics analyses.
• Defining client scientific requirements and helping define and scope deliverables for both data and analysis products and services.
• Understanding applications of model bank data and recommending appropriate models based on client needs; suggesting alternatives when necessary.
• Organizing onboarding meetings with clients and internal staff.
• Monitoring ongoing engagements to ensure tasks are being completed and communicating progress updates to the client in a timely manner.
• Issuing directives to the Data Engineering and Bioinformatics team based on data and protocol endpoints.
• Performing QC for data deliveries, ensuring completion of transfers, and appropriate documentation.
• Recognizing revenue for data/studies for Finance through Salesforce.
• Interface with Business Development, Data Engineering, Computational R&D, and other Champions personnel to successfully coordinate projects from start to finish.
• Participating in discussions around and providing feedback for process improvement to improve quality.
• Representing Champions in the field at client meetings and scientific conferences.
• Organizing periodic program reviews with clients and making suggestions for support based on pipeline alignment.
• Identifying potential new opportunities and facilitating ongoing discussions regarding new opportunities with existing clients.
• Delivering customer value in a timely manner, and ensuring deliverables are accurate.
• Working independently and performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Depth of scientific knowledge around preclinical research platforms.
• Bioinformatics expertise, including familiarity with the analysis and application of multi-omic and multimodal biological data sets. Hands-on experience with RNA-seq and whole exome sequencing data is expected. Familiarity with proteomics data is preferred.
• Knowledge of project management and oncology research. Knowledge of vivo oncology models (Xenograft/PDX) required. Understanding pre-clinical drug development a plus.
• Customer service skills, timely decision making, good interpersonal skills, and an ability to be persistent while maintaining tact.
• Demonstrated ability to explain technical results clearly to non-technical audiences. This is an essential requirement of the role.
• Must have the ability to balance several priorities simultaneously with high attention to detail.
• Ability for frequent adaptation, self-organization, and accountability.
• Effective oral and written communication skills in English are required.
• Scripting ability in Python and/or R, and comfort working at the Linux command line.
• Working knowledge of cloud data handling, preferably AWS and S3, including safe transfer of large datasets.
• Experience with Salesforce, or a comparable CRM, is preferred.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence is a plus.

Education and Experience

• Ph.D. or M.S. degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genomics, or a related quantitative life science preferred.
• Five or more years of experience in translational or preclinical research, data delivery, or a similar client-facing position.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must be able to sit for long periods of time using a computer in a typical office environment in a multi-level facility or home office.
