Role Description

Ocean Associates Inc. (OAI) is seeking a scientific and technical professional to complete Endangered Species Act (ESA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) effects evaluations and support ongoing and new consultation requests for the National Marine Fisheries Service’s (NMFS) West Coast Region (WCR).

• Support for ESA and NEPA effects evaluation and determination documents.
• Scientific writing and analyses for IRA funded tribal hatchery deferred maintenance activities.
• Collaboration with NMFS staff to draft and complete NEPA and ESA documents.
• Edit and respond to comments on NEPA and ESA documents.
• Document review, QA/QC, word processing, and production.

Qualifications

• Senior Level: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field with 8 years of experience or 12 years of combined education/experience.
• Mid-level: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field with 1 year of experience or 5 years of combined education/experience.
• Entry-level: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
• High level of expertise in NEPA or ESA document preparation.
• Familiarity with hatchery effects on natural resources.
• Understanding of NMFS requirements for NEPA or ESA documents.

Requirements

• Experience with Columbia River basin and/or Puget Sound hatchery programs.
• Proven experience working under NMFS guidance.

Benefits

• Salary range: $37 to $43 per hour depending on experience.
