[Hiring] Staff Engineer, Project Engineering @Baker Hughes

Role Description

As a Staff Project Engineer, you'll lead the project execution of Turbomachinery products with the highest complexity/intensity & multi-service & different configurations, within Gas technology Equipment’s. You will engage with different discipline engineers for packages driven by Electric motor (centrifugal or reciprocating compressor as driven equipment) and packages driven by Gas & Steam Turbines for mechanical drive and power generation applications. The projects to be led will consider the supply of new equipment for green field and upgrades for all the above said equipment for brown field.

• Point of contact across Design Engineering teams, Project management & Quality team, as well as for customers and all other company stakeholders supporting the project.
• Supervise quality and timeliness of projects, establishing a solid connection with Project Management, Supply Chain and Engineering execution team.
• Possibly coordinate with other PE’s enabling them to deliver, acting as a coach/mentor for new hires.

As a Staff Customer Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Leading Customer technical interfaces and related communication.
• Building solid relationships with customers to guarantee reliable project execution.
• Collaborating with Products, Systems Integration, Service, Project Management and Supply Chain to ensure flawless execution as per customer needs.
• Reviewing and assessing information received from ITO needed to start the job.
• Identifying customer's requirements indicated in contractual technical specifications and assuring correct CTQ flow-down, integrated with product line standards throughout DR process.
• Ensuring the proper understanding of technical Customer needs inside the GE O&G organization.
• Leading and scheduling drawing list to be submitted to Customers (Vendor Document Register) in accordance with Contractual obligations.
• Managing bill of material for the assigned project to be in accordance with contractual requirements and internal procedures.
• Supporting Engineering planning and related issue resolution.
• Leading internal design activities, reviews and technical decisions.
• Coordinating Design Reviews and Project Review processes with the engineering team.
• Leading project risk mitigation process and abatement plan through design reviews, harmonizing the approach inside the team and ensuring Lesson Learnt sharing.
• Leading customer meetings (kick-off, coordination review, close out, HAZOP's, design reviews) and action plans to resolve open points.
• Responsible for the engineering drawings/document quality issued to customers during the job.
• Leading initiatives to reach quality targets during job execution.
• Attending quality meetings with customers and third parties involved, supporting Project Quality manager to review project quality control plan (QCP/ITP).
• Leading the engineering team to customer issue resolution during execution phase.
• Developing action plans to respond to issues/problems, identifying clear owners, due dates and innovative solutions.
• Accountable for controlling the engineering hours allocated to the job and its spent.
• Responsible for managing and approving Technical Customer Change orders.
• Managing resources, productivity, financial targets, project KPIs.
• Reviewing Test specifications and attending machinery tests with suppliers and/or clients.
• Facilitating different Company Functions involved in the assigned job.

Qualifications

• Bachelor/master’s degree in engineering discipline, Mechanical/Aeronautic or Chemical preferred; other engineering backgrounds with relevant experience in Turbomachinery Project Engineering domain could also apply.
• Minimum 15+ years significant experience in a multidisciplinary assignment, in Oil & Gas environment as System Engineer, Lead Design Engineer & Project Engineer.
• Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects with high technical complexity or intensity with ability to plan, lead and interact with main O&G/industrial customers.
• Good knowledge of Oil & Gas products: Gas & Steam Turbines, Centrifugal Compressors, Expander, Reciprocating compressors and related production processes and applications.
• Knowledge of API’s, ASME, Hazop, Model reviews, Design reviews, FMEA methodology and main Technical Regulation & Standards.
• Ability to manage high level stakeholders and define proper communication plans inside the organization.
• Basic knowledge of 3D CAD tools and good knowledge of IT utility tools (MS Office, Project, MRP, etc.).
• Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
• PMP certified.
• Fluent in English on both oral and written communication (Italian knowledge is an added advantage) and hold a valid passport.
