[Hiring] Programme Management Officer @World Food Programme

Role Description

The Programme Management Officer will be responsible for coordinating project management and budget management for the African Risk Capacity (ARC) under the guidance of the Head of Finance and Administration. Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinate or provide guidance on project management and all aspects of the ARC, including budget management and work planning.
• Provide guidance to staff on budget matters, ensuring correct billing to trust funds as per donor agreements.
• Manage multi-million dollar trust funds and liaise with senior management and external donors on donor contracts and fund programming.
• Coordinate with the legal team on donor contracts and other legal documentation.
• Advise senior management in building project management capacity within ARC.
• Contribute to meetings, presentations, donor reports, and write-ups.
• Interface with partner agencies, governments, NGOs, and donor partners to develop joint work-programmes.
• Represent ARC at international meetings and conferences.
• Act as alternate to Head of Finance and Administration and support HR functions.

Qualifications

• Advanced University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related fields.
• First University degree with additional years of related work experience and membership in a recognized professional accountancy body.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of progressively responsible professional experience in public sector management, development projects, or operational aspects of food aid.
• Experience in project management and budget/finance.
• Experience with WFP is an advantage.
• Advanced computer skills, including intermediate skills in word processing and spreadsheets.
• General knowledge of UN ERP system and related policies is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of another UN official language or Portuguese is an advantage.
