Role Description
The Chapters Team mobilizes Active Minds Chapters and their members for civic engagement and advocacy aimed at mental health and social change. The team supports chapters through three phases: Foundational, Activated, and Mobilized, with the goal of growing the number of peer mental health champions in the Chapter Network.
The Manager, Chapter Mobilization & Engagement provides direct support to chapters in the Activated and Mobilized phases, emphasizing retention and mobilization. This role centers BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth and young adults in program design and implementation, particularly supporting high school chapters. The manager will also manage the peer technical assistance team and provide strategic guidance to chapter advisors and members.
This position reports to the Senior Manager, Chapter Partnerships & Engagement and may supervise the Chapters Intern as needed.
Key Results
- Provide Activated and Mobilized chapters with tools, resources, and technical assistance to collaborate with school and community partners and advance their advocacy from peer education to community, systems, and policy-level change.
- Manage the Peer Technical Assistance Team, composed of up to 10 chapter members, who directly support the nationwide network of chapters.
- Support chapters to recruit and retain members, with the goal of retaining at least 8,000 chapter members in our network annually.
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Communication and Operations teams to design effective communications for chapters.
- Manage the High School Chapter Model, collaborating with the K-12 Initiatives Team, to deliver training and technical assistance.
- Support high school advisors in guiding chapters toward mobilization milestones.
- Collaborate with School Mental Health Team leadership to deliver and execute program equity goals.
- Track and report progress of all projects and deliverables to the Active Minds team and funders as needed.
- In partnership with the Development Team, cultivate relationships with funders, partners, and key stakeholders.
- Maintain and track organized records of project details and communication in the organization-wide Constituent Relationship Management system, Salesforce.
- Represent Active Minds externally as needed at conferences, meetings, trainings, and other events.
Qualifications
- Understanding and experience in mobilizing and engaging with youth and young adults.
- Demonstrated experience providing virtual support and leadership to student leadership bodies.
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs of high school aged youth and K-12 school systems.
- Baseline knowledge of, or experience with, mental health as a field.
- Knowledge of project management best practices and tools (Asana, ClickUp, Taskray, Basecamp, Monday.com, Trello).
- Experience planning and/or designing training programs centering youth and young adults.
- A collaborative approach and team-oriented style with the ability to build strategic relationships.
- Belief that equity and social justice are important and driven to act on this belief.
