Role Description
The Civil Construction Estimator-Project Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, monitoring, and coordinating General Contracting projects from bidding to completion. The role involves estimating, scheduling, and managing civil construction projects.
- Conduct pre-bid activities, including obtaining plans, reviewing scopes, and requesting subcontractor quotes
- Attend pre-bid meetings and provide technical sales support
- Perform material take-offs and pre-qualify subcontractors
- Quantify and confirm sub trade pricing while reviewing General and Supplemental Conditions
- Build estimates, identify risks, and submit bid packages for review to Lead Estimator
- Participate in weekly meetings to track project progress and update bid metrics
- Assist with bid forms and sub trade proposals: schedules, project management plans, narratives, scope clarifications, alternates, unit pricing, resumes/key personnel, subcontractors
- Confirm buy-out at contract signing and request necessary documentation from subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with construction plans, specifications, and local regulations
- Oversee scheduling and sequencing of all installation activities
- Communicate with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Monitor project scope changes, identify cost-saving opportunities, and report financial outcomes
- Enforce safety regulations, resolve operational challenges, and ensure quality standards
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience with civil contractors
- 5+ years of experience in civil construction cost estimating
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum six (6) years of experience in construction management, field construction, design, construction/project management software, procurement, contract administration
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, processes, and industry standards
- Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, or similar tools)
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations
- Certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or equivalent are a plus
- Advanced knowledge of scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) are a plus
