[Hiring] Product Research Specialist @PurpleFire

Role Description

• Based in Australia (ideally Melbourne/Sydney, but anywhere in AU is fine).
• Take our niche direction and framework and research product opportunities for the Australian market.
• Identify product candidates with clear data:
  • Pricing
  • Estimated landed cost
  • Gross margin
  • Supplier location
  • Estimated delivery time
  • Any sustainability/brand story angles
• Populate a structured sheet we provide (with scoring fields) and propose a short “launch set” list with notes.
• Work under our brand (white-label), sign an NDA, and be comfortable that all IP and client relationships belong to us.

Qualifications

• Experience with ecommerce product research and product selection (ideally dropshipping or Shopify-based).
• Comfortable evaluating products based on demand, margin, competition, and logistics (shipping times, supplier reliability, returns risk).
• Familiarity with Australian online shoppers and local suppliers/wholesalers is a big plus.
• Strong with spreadsheets (Google Sheets/Excel) and structured scoring frameworks.
• Good written English; able to document findings clearly and follow a process we give them.

Requirements

• Detail-oriented and comfortable with repetitive research.
• Proactive communicator who can flag issues (e.g., shipping times too long, margins too thin).
• Reliable with deadlines; this project will be tightly scoped and time-boxed.

Benefits

• For a 1–2 week research sprint (roughly 15–25 hours of work), we’re targeting:
  • Hourly equivalent in the AUD 30–45/hour range, or
  • A fixed project fee in the AUD 500–1,000 range for the full research + deliverable, depending on experience.
