[Hiring] Worksite Tech Deployment Ops Manager @United Rentals

Role Description

As Manager, WTD Ops, you will lead the field operation that deploys, services, and supports robotic and autonomous solutions. You will own the full operational chain, including:

• Inventory and fleet readiness
• Logistics and forward deployment
• On-site install and commissioning
• Service and support
• Telematics field operations

What you'll do:

• Deployment & Field Operations:
  • Own end-to-end deployment of robotic and autonomous solutions at customer worksites and branches.
  • Build and lead a field deployment team, supplemented by qualified third-party partners.
  • Establish repeatable playbooks for site readiness, safety, install standards, and commissioning.
  • Operationalize worksite data with strategic cloud-based construction management platforms.
  • Be on-site for priority deployments and events as needed.
• Inventory, Fleet & Logistics:
  • Manage inventory and fleet readiness for robotics and telematics devices.
  • Own the deployment logistics model end-to-end across both UR branch and 3PL-held inventory.
  • Coordinate third-party logistics and surge partners.
  • Maintain accurate asset records in RentalMan and related systems.
• Service & Support:
  • Deliver end-to-end field service and support for deployed solutions.
  • Partner closely with the Digital Support desk to maximize customer uptime.
  • Drive service excellence through technician training and development.
  • Build and maintain troubleshooting guides and operating standards.
• Safety & Compliance:
  • Own all safety matters for deployment and field operations.
  • Oversee safety audits and training for the deployment team and partners.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across field operations.
  • Partner with vendors and customer EHS teams on site-specific safety protocols.
• Telematics Field Operations:
  • Lead telematics field operations across the fleet.
  • Supervise third-party telematics vendors and OEMs.
  • Drive fleet health and device utilization.
• Leadership, Vendors & Stakeholders:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a distributed team of specialists and technicians.
  • Own budget accountability for deployment and telematics field operations.
  • Manage vendor, OEM, and partner relationships.
  • Act as the operational liaison for National Accounts and key customers.
  • Participate in pre-deployment planning and pilot prioritization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent operational experience considered.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in field operations, logistics, project/event execution, or technology operations.
• 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and lead distributed teams.
• Strong logistics and operational acumen.
• Experience with telematics, robotics, or connected-equipment platforms preferred.
• Enthusiasm for early adoption of new construction technology.
• Proficient in Microsoft applications and RentalMan; BI/reporting tools a plus.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Up to 75% travel to worksites, branches, vendor, and customer locations.
