Role Description

We are looking for an experienced operational leader with strong knowledge and practical experience of the London Market. Candidates should be able to demonstrate hands-on experience of leading operational teams, managing service delivery and driving performance. The successful candidate will bring this experience to the role from the outset, supported by a focused induction into Velonetic’s specific systems, processes and ways of working.

The Team Manager is responsible for achieving operational and service delivery targets through the effective leadership and management of their team. The role requires strong people leadership, interpersonal, operational management and customer relationship skills. Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills are essential, together with the ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities.

All work processed must meet agreed service levels in respect of quality and turnaround times. Training will be provided on Velonetic-specific systems, processes and procedures required to perform the role.

What you will be doing

• Liaise with customers and brokers to resolve claims-related queries and issues
• Lead and support multiple claims teams operating within agreed handling authorities
• Support and coach team members in resolving operational and customer issues
• Prepare volume forecasts using historical data and current operational conditions
• Produce balanced capacity plans to support the delivery of business objectives and effective utilisation of resources
• Allocate work and resources to optimise daily operational outcomes
• Monitor in-day performance against agreed work plans
• Maintain accurate records of time spent on diverted activity and how staff time is distributed
• Take corrective action to re-plan and reprioritise resources at critical points
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to resolve capacity issues and achieve service delivery objectives
• Manage absence consistently and in accordance with the Absence Policy

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience of operational leadership, including managing teams, service delivery, workload, capacity and performance
• Proven practical experience and strong knowledge of the London Market insurance and/or reinsurance environment
• Strong numeracy, verbal and literacy skills
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Outlook and MS Office
• Ability to work to a high level of accuracy with strong attention to detail
• Strong organisational, personal and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent Customer Service skills
• Ability to demonstrate strong negotiating and influencing skills
• Positive attitude and natural curiosity to identify improvements
• Proven ability to deliver customer satisfaction
