Role Description

A leading Shipping Company seeks an experienced Operations Coordinator to manage international freight shipments from the point a confirmed booking is handed over by Sales through to final delivery, invoicing and file closure. You will handle both imports and exports across sea FCL, sea LCL, air freight and road freight. This is an end-to-end operational role, not a tracking or administrative position.

• Take ownership of shipment files
• Communicate proactively with clients and suppliers
• Solve operational problems independently
• Work without constant supervision or micromanagement
• Manage around 30–40 active shipment files at a time
• Involve fixed cut-offs, detailed documentation, frequent client and supplier follow-up, costing and invoicing, and resolving unexpected operational problems
• Manage import and export shipments end to end
• Arrange bookings, collections and final deliveries
• Prepare and check shipping and customs documentation
• Proactively manage clients, carriers, agents and shipment exceptions
• Manage accruals, supplier costs, invoicing, margin and file closure

Qualifications

• Matric / National Senior Certificate
• Minimum 3 years freight forwarding or international moving operations experience
• Imports and Exports experience
• FCL, LCL, air freight and road freight experience
• End-to-end shipment file ownership and direct client contact
• A suitable quiet workspace and reliable dedicated internet of at least 20 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload

• Imports and Exports experience
• FCL, LCL, air freight and road freight experience
• End-to-end shipment file ownership and direct client contact
• A suitable quiet workspace and reliable dedicated internet of at least 20 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload
• Nice-to-haves:
• CargoWise or similar freight-management system experience
• Customs entry framing / SARS EDI experience
• International household moving experience
• Freight, customs or logistics qualification
• Afrikaans proficiency
