Role Description
OpenLoop is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse for a 1099 independent contractor opportunity providing virtual sexual health care to patients across the United States. This role supports a clinical program offering preventive services, including PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) and DoxyPEP, as well as care for individuals living with HIV.
The ideal candidate brings strong clinical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to delivering inclusive, stigma-free, patient-centered care. Through scheduled virtual consultations and asynchronous support, you will help improve access to care for diverse populations, including the LGBTQ2IA+ community.
Key Responsibilities

Live Virtual Consultations

Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care through scheduled consultations on a virtual care platform.

Conduct comprehensive initial nursing assessments for patients seeking HIV prevention services, including medical histories, risk assessments, and psychosocial evaluations.

Educate patients on sexually transmitted and bloodborne infection prevention, with an emphasis on HIV prevention, risk reduction, and behavioral counseling.

Help patients understand their care options, address concerns and stigma, and make informed decisions about their health.

Asynchronous Patient Care & Collaboration

Review results, provide patient education, and complete clinical follow-ups within the RN scope of practice and established clinical protocols.

Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.

Use virtual care tools to communicate with patients and support continuity of care.

Collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and support team members to coordinate care and escalate clinical concerns as appropriate.
Qualifications

Active multistate Registered Nurse license through the Nurse Licensure Compact.

At least 3 years of clinical nursing experience.

Experience in a clinical nursing role requiring independent judgment in medical patient care and/or sexual health.

Experience providing virtual healthcare.

Experience in HIV prevention and/or working with the LGBTQ2IA+ community.

Strong communication, patient education, and clinical assessment skills.

An empathetic approach and a commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive care.

Consistent availability for scheduled consultations and asynchronous responsibilities, including results review, patient education, and follow-up.
Preferred Qualifications

Additional nursing licenses in non-compact states, particularly Nevada and/or Oregon.

Experience caring for gender-diverse and sexually diverse populations.

Experience working in a private-sector, startup, or technology-driven organization.

Spanish fluency.
Schedule & Availability
This opportunity requires a commitment of 20β30 hours per week, including:

Up to 20 hours of scheduled live virtual consultations.

Approximately 5β10 hours of asynchronous patient care.

At least 10 live consultation hours must be completed between Friday and Sunday each week.

Asynchronous responsibilities offer scheduling flexibility while requiring consistent availability to support timely patient care.

Task volume may vary based on state licensure and patient needs.
Compensation & Contractor Details

Compensation is task-based.

Actual earnings depend on task volume and completion.
