[Hiring] Referral Intake Specialist @Donor Network of Arizona

Role Description

Join Donor Network of Arizona and help save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation. As a Referral Intake Specialist, you will play a critical role in the organ donation process by:

• Evaluating referrals and assessing donor suitability.
• Collaborating with healthcare professionals to maximize donation opportunities across Arizona.
• Communicating with appropriate professional staff and reviewing the patient’s medical record for consideration of donation options.
• Performing an initial telephone evaluation with the party initiating the referral call to determine gross suitability for organ donation.
• Conducting a full chart review to assess donor suitability.
• Managing all open referrals, including daily follow-up and optimizing referral outcomes and processes.
• Providing basic education to hospital staff about the donation process and continuity of care.
• Facilitating family conversations regarding donation when needed, in collaboration with hospital staff.

This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside within the state of Arizona.

Schedule & Availability Expectations

• Potential openings on both day and night shifts:
• Night Shift: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
• Day Shift: 2 x 12-hour / 2 x 8-hour schedule per week
• Expected to work a minimum of approximately four weekend shifts per month.
• Participate in holiday coverage, including two to three major winter holidays each year.

Qualifications

• Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• The ability to make informed decisions in fast-paced, emotionally sensitive situations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience reviewing medical records and interpreting clinical information preferred.
• Healthcare, organ donation, transplant, or related clinical experience preferred.
• Minimum Experience:
• 1-2 years of experience as an EMT-P, LPN, RT, medical scribe, or previous OPO experience.
• 1 year experience with medical terminology.
• Preferred Education:
• EMT-P, LPN or RT license.
• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree or relevant medical certification.
• Preferred Experience:
• 1-2 years of OPO experience.
