Role Description
The Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist provides speech, language, and communication therapy services to infants and toddlers from birth to three years of age and their families. Services are delivered using a family-centered, parent-coaching model that supports caregivers in incorporating therapeutic strategies into everyday routines and activities.

Services are primarily provided in natural environments, including the family home, community settings, and virtually when appropriate.

The Speech-Language Pathologist works collaboratively with families, caregivers, and a multidisciplinary team to support each childβs communication development, participation, and overall functioning.

The SLP serves as an active member of a collaborative and supportive team, contributing professional expertise, participating in team discussions and planning, and coordinating services to promote positive outcomes for children and families.
Qualifications

Masterβs degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

Current Washington State Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license in good standing.

ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) or eligibility for certification.

Pediatric or early intervention experience preferred.

Experience working with infants, toddlers, and children with developmental delays or disabilities preferred.

Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

Provide speech-language therapy services to infants and toddlers, primarily birth to three years of age, using a family-centered parent-coaching model.

Provide services in natural environments, including family homes, childcare settings, community locations, and virtually when appropriate.

Complete speech-language assessments and evaluations for eligibility, six-month reviews/re-evaluations, and annual evaluations.

Prepare clear, timely assessment reports and communicate evaluation results and recommendations to families, caregivers, and the multidisciplinary team.

Develop and support IFSP outcomes in collaboration with families and other team members.

Provide 50β55-minute therapy sessions through direct intervention, caregiver education, and parent coaching.

Complete timely clinical documentation, including SOAP notes, within required deadlines.

Maintain an organized caseload and schedule visits in accordance with IFSP frequency and service requirements.

Collaborate with Family Resource Coordinators (FRCs), therapists, service providers, medical professionals, educators, and other community partners as appropriate.

Participate actively in team meetings, case consultations, trainings, and other agency activities.

Maintain compliance with Washington State requirements, Early Supports policies, professional standards, and Sherwood Community Services policies and procedures.

Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practices related to pediatric speech, language, and communication development.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, families, and agency partners and respond to work-related communications within established timelines.
