[Hiring] Professional Billing Coder II @Yuma Regional Medical Center

Role Description

The Professional Billing Coder II is an intermediate-level coding professional responsible for independently reviewing medical documentation and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes for outpatient and professional services. This role requires advanced knowledge of coding guidelines and payer-specific requirements to support correct billing, compliance, and optimal reimbursement. The PB Coder II works with minimal supervision and may assist with training or mentoring entry-level coders.

• Review and interpret complex clinical documentation to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT codes for physician and outpatient services.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with official guidelines, payer rules, and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze coding and documentation discrepancies and collaborate with providers or departments for clarification when needed.
• Resolve coding-related denials, edits, and rejections to support clean claim submission.
• Meet or exceed department productivity and accuracy standards.
• Participate in internal audits and assist in maintaining high audit readiness.
• Serve as a resource for Professional Billing Coder I team members; may provide mentoring or informal training support.
• Stay current with updates to coding systems, payer guidelines, and industry best practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Equivalency Diploma
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS-P) required
• Minimum of 2+ years of experience as certified coder
