Role Description

Assigns diagnosis and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding systems with advanced accuracy and efficiency. Audits physician documentation and serves as a resource for the department. Provides mentorship and training to Specialty Coder I team members and clinical coding students. Contributes to coding quality and departmental development.

Qualifications

• 2 years of coding experience
• 1 year of medical office related experience
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Coding Specialist -- Physician Based (CCS-P)

Requirements

• Essential: High School Graduate or Equivalent GED
• Nonessential: Associates Degree
• Essential: Certified Professional Coder
• Credential equivalent experience: Required - CPC (Coding)
