Role Description

As the Mental Health RN Team Leader, you will provide clinical and operational leadership to the VCC Mental Health team, ensuring high standards of clinical practice and positive client outcomes.

• Oversee mental health intake, assessment, triage, risk management, care coordination, and referral processes.
• Support the team with complex clinical presentations and escalation pathways.
• Play a key role in staff supervision, professional development, clinical governance, and continuous improvement across the service.
• Monday - Friday | 9:00am - 5:00pm

Day to day!

• Provide clinical leadership, supervision, and support to the VCC Mental Health team.
• Oversee mental health intake, assessment, triage, risk assessment, and referral processes.
• Provide clinical consultation and support for complex mental health presentations and risk escalation.
• Lead clinical reviews, case conferences, supervision, and professional development activities.
• Monitor clinical documentation, service delivery, outcomes, and compliance.
• Support effective referral pathways across internal and external mental health services.
• Build strong relationships with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Contribute to clinical governance, policy development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote evidence-based, culturally responsive, and person-centred mental health care.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
• Relevant postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience including significant mental health experience.
• Experience in mental health intake, triage, crisis intervention, or care coordination.
• Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring clinical teams.
• Strong clinical judgement, risk assessment, escalation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of mental health referral pathways and clinical governance.
• Experience in virtual care or telehealth is desirable.
