Role Description
The Neurovascular Medical Safety team provides medical leadership and patient safety oversight across the product lifecycle for neurovascular therapies. The team partners with Research & Development, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Risk Management, and Medical Affairs to assess product safety, evaluate risks, support clinical and post-market activities, and inform decision-making that advances patient outcomes and product performance.
This position is remote to enhance our competitive edge and expand our cross-functional collaboration efforts. This role will require 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.
As a part-time Medical Safety Director, you will serve as the physician lead for patient safety within the Neurovascular Operating Unit. You will provide medical expertise across product development, clinical studies, risk management, regulatory activities, and post-market surveillance while partnering with cross-functional teams to assess safety information, support benefit-risk evaluations, and guide patient safety decisions.
Primary Responsibilities

Serve as the Medical Safety lead and physician advocate for patient safety across Neurovascular therapies.

Evaluate safety signals, adverse events, complaint trends, and emerging risks to support benefit-risk assessments and patient safety decisions.

Provide medical expertise across product development, clinical studies, risk management, post-market surveillance, and field corrective actions.

Assess the clinical impact of product performance, quality, manufacturing, and design issues on patients and healthcare providers.

Review and approve safety, clinical, and regulatory documents supporting product development and lifecycle management activities.

Represent Medical Safety in governance, quality, risk management, and leadership forums.

Engage with healthcare professionals, investigators, regulators, and professional societies regarding device safety and performance.

Monitor scientific, clinical, and regulatory developments and provide medical input on new products, acquisition opportunities, and emerging safety considerations.
Qualifications

Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or international equivalent medical degree.

Board certification (or international equivalent) in Neurology, Neurosurgery, Interventional Neuroradiology, or a related interventional specialty.

Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience in neurovascular intervention or a closely related specialty, or a combination of clinical and industry experience with substantial neurovascular expertise.

Minimum of 5 years of independent patient care experience following residency or fellowship training.

Experience interpreting clinical research, medical, and safety data to support patient safety and benefit-risk assessments.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Medical Safety, Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, or Research & Development within the medical device or life sciences industry.

Experience with medical device risk management, post-market surveillance, safety signal assessment, or health hazard evaluations.

Knowledge of global medical device regulations and standards, including Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Union Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR) requirements.

Clinical investigator experience or involvement in medical device clinical trials.

Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science (MS/MSc), or equivalent advanced degree.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. Β§ 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $235,200.00 - $352,800.00.
