Role Description

This part-time, remote internship offers students and recent graduates hands-on experience conducting quantitative healthcare research focused on pharmacy outcomes and policy. Interns will contribute to real-world evidence studies across areas such as:

• Comparative effectiveness
• Medication access and affordability
• Healthcare utilization and costs
• Benefit design
• Pharmacy policy

The Fall Internship is a 16–20-week immersive, professional research learning experience for students or recent graduates interested in pursuing a career in quantitative healthcare research. This intern position is tailored to support pharmacy-oriented health outcomes and pharmacy policy research. The intern will gain experience with real-world evidence generation through the design and conduct of research studies including:

• Comparative effectiveness
• Disease characterization
• Treatment patterns analysis
• Cost and healthcare utilization analysis
• Medication access and affordability
• Pharmacy benefit design
• Utilization management
• Pharmacy policy evaluation

The intern will participate in synthesizing, communicating, and presenting research findings to Humana stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing (final-year student) or recently completed PhD in pharmacy, outcomes research, epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, health economics, public health or health services research.
• Knowledge in quantitative health outcomes research, analytics, and statistical techniques.
• Knowledge of causal inference methods or completion of relevant course work on quasi-experimental methods (e.g., propensity score analysis, inverse probability treatment weighting, interrupted time series analysis, regression discontinuity designs, instrumental variable analysis, and/or causal mediation analysis).
• Ability to commit to at least part-time employment for 16 to 20 weeks beginning in November 2026.
• Experience working collaboratively on research teams.
• Proficiency in at least one statistical coding language.
• Interest in a career in healthcare research.

Requirements

• Enthusiastic to continue to learn and develop research methods skills.
• Experience using R and/or SAS for data management and statistical analyses.
• Experience in utilizing real-world data sources, such as claims databases and electronic health records, for observational studies and RWE generation.
• Experience in scientific writing and/or manuscript authorship.

Scheduled Weekly Hours

Part-time position starting in November through Feb/March.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$37,440 - $96,800 per year
