[Hiring] Health Outcomes Liaison @Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals

YDay - Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals is hiring a remote Health Outcomes Liaison. 💸 Salary: usd 190,000 - 210,000 per year 📍Location: USA

Role Description

The Health Outcomes Liaison (HOL) is a field-based scientific and clinical expert responsible for engaging regional and local payers and healthcare decision makers to communicate the clinical and economic value of Arrowhead’s cardiometabolic RNAi portfolio. The HOL will serve as a trusted scientific partner for managed care organizations, integrated delivery networks, pharmacy benefit managers, and other healthcare decision-makers by facilitating compliant, non-promotional scientific exchange related to clinical evidence, real-world evidence (RWE), health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), and value-based care. This role executes field-level engagement that supports the broader national payer strategy and reports to the Medical Affairs Payer Director (west coast player coach).

This is a highly mobile, customer-facing role that requires more than 60% travel across the assigned geography, including weeknights and weekends as business needs require. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment, operate with a high degree of agility and autonomy, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced biotechnology environment as organizational priorities shift and the portfolio advances.

Responsibilities

  • Field Payer Scientific Engagement
    • Work with regional and local healthcare decision-makers focused on payer initiatives, RWE, HEOR, and removing clinical and economic barriers to patient access for Arrowhead’s cardiometabolic RNAi therapies.
    • Plan and execute territory level engagement strategy for assigned customers, in alignment with direction set by the Medical Affairs Payer Director and broader Medical Affairs strategy.
    • Establish and maintain scientific relationships with payer medical directors, pharmacy directors, formulary committee members, IDNs, ACOs, and other local/regional healthcare decision-makers.
    • Deliver scientific presentations to formulary committees and other key healthcare decision-makers (HCDMs), communicating Arrowhead’s health economic model and supporting clinical data, and serve as the primary field-based point of contact for related questions.
    • Maintain a consistent and productive field presence across the assigned geography to customer meetings, regional and national conferences as needed.
  • Evidence & Insight Gathering
    • Gather and communicate field-level payer insights regarding formulary considerations, evidence gaps, utilization management, prior authorization requirements, reimbursement barriers, and evolving healthcare policy, feeding these insights up to the Medical Affairs Payer Director to inform national strategy and evidence generation planning.
    • Maintain a strong working understanding of payer evidence needs, reimbursement challenges, and population health priorities within cardiometabolic disease.
    • Serve as a field-based scientific resource regarding clinical outcomes, comparative effectiveness, RWE, HEOR, and value evidence for Arrowhead’s cardiometabolic RNAi portfolio.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Collaborate with field-based medical colleagues, appropriate market access colleagues, and the broader organization to provide scientific expertise and share field insights in support of internal and external activities.
    • Develop execution of payer engagement plans and materials developed in partnership with Medical Value Evidence and Outcomes and Market Access, ensuring consistent scientific messaging in the field.
    • Flex to support enterprise and national priorities as needed, including medical congress and payer conference coverage, advisory boards, internal training, and ad hoc projects that arise in a fast-paced, high-growth organization.
  • Travel and Work Environment
    • Field-based role requiring more than 60% travel within the assigned territory, including overnight travel, weeknights, and weekends as needed to meet customer and business needs.
    • Regular attendance at payer and managed care conferences and regional meetings.
    • Travel by both car and air is expected; a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required.
    • Willingness to be agile and work in a fast-paced biotechnology environment taking on responsibilities beyond the defined scope of the role in support of team and company objectives.
    • Self-motivated, well organized, and able to work independently in a remote field-based setting.

Qualifications

  • MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent degree.
  • 2+ years of industry experience as a Payor Medical Liaison.
  • 3+ years of clinical or related practical experience.
  • Experience in Managed Care/PBM, HEOR activities, or strong knowledge of P&T committee processes.
  • Strong scientific and clinical acumen with the ability to quickly understand and translate complex scientific data, including data from novel modalities such as RNA interference (RNAi).
  • Ability to operate effectively within a defined territory strategy while contributing insights upward to senior Medical Affairs leadership.
  • Demonstrated agility and adaptability in a fast-paced, resource-conscious environment, with a willingness to wear multiple hats and shift priorities as business needs evolve.
  • Ability and willingness to travel more than 60% of the time, including weeknights and weekends as needed; valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to tailor complex clinical and health economic data to a range of payer and population health audiences.
  • Strong compliance orientation and a working knowledge of the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing compliant, non-promotional scientific exchange with payers and healthcare decision-makers.

Preferred

  • Cardiometabolic experience.
