Role Description

The Coder II performs coding audits and review of outpatient provider services to support coding optimization and compliance for the medical group. In addition to the audit and review work, the Coder II will work side by side with outpatient providers providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and support with the code entry process, documentation, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCC coding in alignment with current medical group reimbursement requirements.

Qualifications

• National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders upon hire, Or Certification from American Health Information Management Association upon hire
• 3 years recent outpatient medical coding experience
• Experience working with physicians, with an emphasis on coaching and communication
• EMR experience, preferably Epic
• Experience coaching and training physicians
• Proven history of proactively identifying, resolving and escalating issues that impact business and documentation outcomes
• A track record in organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast-paced environment
