Role Description
We’re hiring a Marketing Engineer to build the AI-native system that brings workers to Wonolo, gets them through their first job, and keeps them coming back. This is a business-to-consumer (B2C) role. Your users are workers, not companies. You’ll be building growth systems for a marketplace, not plumbing for a sales team.
You’ll work alongside the team that leads funnel and lifecycle strategy and turn their priorities into automations, AI-powered flows, and campaigns that run themselves. Market data is your main input for deciding where to focus. When the data doesn’t capture something about a specific customer or market, you’ll partner with our Business Operations team to get it.
We welcome qualified candidates located anywhere in Canada #LI-Remote.
What you’ll do:
-
Lifecycle and Activation Automation
-
Map the worker journey from first touch through churn and build the automations that remove friction.
-
Build journeys in Iterable or similar tools that pull a segment of workers by data filters and enroll them in a campaign automatically when a metric drops below a threshold, like fill rate in a region or first-job completion.
-
Build triggered onboarding, re-engagement, and win-back flows, plus the logic that decides who gets what and when.
-
Use Large Language Models (LLMs) to personalize messaging and lift conversion, not just to write copy faster.
-
Paid and Channel Automation
-
Use Looker data to create triggers that turn paid social campaigns on and off automatically through the Meta, TikTok, and similar application programming interfaces (APIs).
-
Build integrations that programmatically post job listings based on the open roles on our platform.
-
Build automations that speed up campaign activation across organic and paid channels, including social, job boards, search, and answer engine optimization.
-
AI-Native Workflows and Evaluation
-
Rebuild manual marketing workflows to be AI-native.
-
Build AI agent workflows for acquisition, content creation, and competitive intelligence, covering prompts, data sources, structured outputs, and the human checkpoints that need to stay in the loop.
-
Build evaluation frameworks that measure whether our agents are doing the job well, tied back to marketing key performance indicators (KPIs).
-
Reporting and Experimentation
-
Automate our campaign reporting end to end.
-
Design tests with a clear hypothesis, ship them, read the results, and decide what to scale or kill.
-
Day-to-Day Execution
-
Monitor market health and activate the right playbook when a customer launches or ramps, fill rate drops, workers churn, or a geographic gap opens up, and flag when conditions call for something new.
-
Treat every campaign you run by hand as a spec for the next thing you automate.
Qualifications
-
2 to 4 years in a technical role where you built and shipped, whether your title was growth, lifecycle, marketing operations, Go-To-Market (GTM) engineering, analytics, or automation. What you built matters more than the title.
-
You write Structured Query Language (SQL) from scratch and are comfortable in Looker or a similar business intelligence tool.
-
You work with APIs directly, handle authentication and webhooks, and build automations end to end in Zapier, n8n, Make, or code, including error handling and maintenance after launch.
-
Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI) and agents, including prompt design, structured outputs, and evaluation loops.
-
Experience building triggered campaigns in Iterable or a similar platform, or comparable automations from scratch.
-
A structured approach to experimentation. You define what success looks like before you build and measure it after.
-
You've shipped internal tools that teams actually adopted.
Nice-to-haves, or you'll learn here
-
How users behave in a B2C funnel and where drop-off happens.
-
Experience in a marketplace or gig economy product with a two-sided user base.
-
Familiarity with paid acquisition channels and how to automate decisioning across them.
-
Experience with Clay, Framer, or Lovable.
