Role Description

Invisible Colors is looking for a Freelance Brand & Business Strategist to help clients turn complex business challenges into clear strategic direction. You'll work across brand positioning, business strategy, audience insight, messaging, and go-to-market thinking. You'll help uncover opportunities, define a clear point of view, and translate strategy into actionable direction for creative and marketing teams. This is a freelance, project-based role with the opportunity to work across different clients, industries, and types of strategic challenges.

What You'll Do

• Develop brand and business strategies based on client objectives, market context, and audience needs.
• Research and analyze audiences, markets, competitors, trends, and cultural insights.
• Develop positioning, value propositions, brand platforms, messaging, and strategic territories.
• Turn complex information and business challenges into clear strategic recommendations.
• Create creative and marketing briefs that give teams a strong direction.
• Connect brand strategy to business, marketing, and go-to-market objectives.
• Lead or contribute to client discovery sessions, workshops, brainstorms, and presentations.
• Present strategic recommendations and clearly communicate the thinking behind them.
• Collaborate with Art Directors, Copywriters, Designers, Creative Strategists, and other creative talent.
• Contribute strategic thinking to pitches, new business opportunities, and client presentations when needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in brand strategy, business strategy, marketing strategy, planning, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of brand positioning, audiences, markets, and consumer behavior.
• Ability to connect business objectives with meaningful brand and creative direction.
• Strong research, analytical, and conceptual thinking skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Comfortable working directly with clients and leading strategic conversations.
• Ability to work independently while integrating easily into a multidisciplinary creative team.
• Strong judgment, curiosity, and attention to detail.
• A portfolio or body of work that demonstrates the quality and depth of your strategic thinking.

Bonus Points

• Experience in a creative agency, branding studio, advertising agency, or consultancy.
• Experience with go-to-market strategy, product launches, or growth strategy.
• Experience working with startups, emerging brands, or rapidly evolving businesses.
• Experience working in the Canadian and U.S. markets.
• Experience across multiple industries or markets.
• Understanding of creative development across branding, campaigns, digital, social, and experiential.
• Familiarity with AI and emerging technologies.
