Role Description
The Director, Patient Marketing is responsible for the development and execution of the patient and consumer marketing strategy to drive disease awareness, patient engagement, brand adoption, and adherence. This role serves as the primary owner of all patient-facing promotional activities and collaborates closely with agency partners, commercial operations, patient advocacy, medical, legal, regulatory, and access stakeholders to ensure execution of integrated omnichannel campaigns. The position is accountable for translating brand strategy into effective patient experiences across paid, owned, and earned channels, while leading all media planning and optimization efforts.
Key Responsibilities

Patient Marketing Strategy & Execution:

Design the development and lead the execution of patient marketing strategies aligned with brand, portfolio, and organizational objectives.

Shape the brand strategy into patient-centric initiatives that address unmet needs, treatment barriers, and key decision drivers across the patient journey.

Develop and drive integrated patient engagement programs spanning disease awareness, treatment consideration, initiation, adherence, persistence, and advocacy.

Leverage market research, patient insights, analytics, and competitive intelligence to inform strategy, optimize performance, and identify growth opportunities.

Non-Personal Promotion (NPP) / Media Strategy:

Define the strategic development and execution of patient-facing campaigns across digital, social, CRM, websites, video, print, and emerging channels.

Own overall media strategy, investment planning, and performance optimization to maximize reach, engagement, and return on investment.

Oversee the HCP/patient digital ecosystem and omnichannel engagement strategy, ensuring seamless, personalized experiences across touchpoints.

Establish KPIs and measurement frameworks, using data and insights to continuously improve campaign effectiveness and business impact.

Agency, Budget & Operational Leadership:

Partner with agencies to provide strategic leadership and deliver high-impact, compliant marketing programs.

Accountable for marketing budgets, scopes of work, and agency performance to ensure effective resource allocation and achievement of business objectives.

Drive operational excellence through strong planning, prioritization, governance, and execution.

Cross-Functional Leadership:

Lead cross-functional collaboration across Patient Advocacy, Commercial Operations, Medical Affairs, Legal/Compliance, and Regulatory functions to ensure patient marketing initiatives are strategically aligned, compliant, and effectively executed.

Champion patient engagement strategies that support product launches, lifecycle optimization, and disease awareness efforts, leveraging insights to enhance patient education and activation.

Synthesize complex information into clear, actionable presentations and business updates for senior leadership, driving alignment on priorities, performance, and future opportunities.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Minimum years of pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or consumer marketing experience.

Proven success leading omnichannel marketing, media, and non-personal promotion (NPP) strategies.

Experience in specialty pharmaceuticals, rare disease, ophthalmology, oncology, immunology, or other specialty therapeutic areas is preferred.

Strong understanding of media planning, digital marketing, analytics, and customer engagement.

Experience managing agencies, cross-functional teams, and marketing budgets.

Product launch and lifecycle management experience preferred.

Strong understanding of FDA promotional regulations and industry compliance standards.

Excellent project management, organizational, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills.
Benefits

Pay Range: $200,000 to $240,000 USD (Salary offered will depend on candidate location, market rate adjustments, skills, and relevant experience).
