Role Description
Fujifilm Holdings America Corporation is seeking a senior counsel to support the company’s privacy, data protection, and AI program goals and compliance obligations across a number of business functions. In this role, you will report to the company's Chief Litigation, Employment & Privacy Counsel, and will work closely with the Privacy Officer and Data Governance Director, Information Security Officer and legal team.
You will serve as a subject-matter expert for state, federal and international privacy laws impacting Fujifilm, and be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel on such laws and regulations affecting its businesses in North America, South America, and European regions.
The position is fully remote within the US.
Responsibilities

Act as a key subject matter expert and advisor to Fujifilm attorneys and business teams on all matters relating to data privacy and protection law.

Advise members of the legal and business teams on best practices and compliance with U.S. and global data protection laws.

Collaborate with privacy and security colleagues to support and enhance the company’s privacy program.

Support privacy impact assessments (PIAs/DPIAs), vendor risk reviews, and internal assessments.

Support the development and management of privacy training and awareness initiatives.

Provide legal support for the strategic reviewing, drafting, and negotiating of AI, privacy and data security terms in contracts.

Provide legal support for the drafting, reviewing and negotiating of AI, privacy and security related agreements.

Provide advice and legal direction on data protection laws impacting business operations.

Strategically advise on emerging products and technologies while anticipating privacy considerations.

Provide legal counsel on investigations involving reports of inappropriate or unauthorized access, loss or disclosure of personal data.

Support development of enterprise-wide best practices for incident response readiness.

Identify and advise on key legal issues requiring attention from the privacy compliance team.

Provide legal counsel to Information Security, Compliance, and other individuals with privacy and data handling responsibilities.

Support the organization’s AI governance and responsible use framework.

Partner with Compliance, Data Governance, IS, IT, and business stakeholders to assess privacy risks associated with AI.

Support HIPAA Privacy compliance obligations, as applicable.
Qualifications
-
A JD degree and U.S. state bar membership in good standing are required.

At least 8-12 years of experience as a practicing attorney, in-house and/or at a law firm.

Understanding of relevant privacy statutes, regulations and guidance.

Substantial experience assessing legal risks relating to data protection and privacy, and AI.

Experience drafting and negotiating AI, privacy and security-related contracts.

Experience with data loss prevention and cybersecurity events.

Experience managing privacy and/or cybersecurity incident response efforts.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills (both oral and written) are a must.
Desired Skills

Privacy and AI certifications a plus, such as CIPP-US, CIPP-C, CIPP-E, CIPM, AIGP, CHPC.

Experience and interest in new and emerging technologies, including in the areas of healthcare and life sciences.
