Role Description
As Senior Corporate Counsel, you will have the opportunity to work closely with other folks locally and across our global business organization, on a diverse range of legal matters. An ideal candidate would be a natural problem solver and troubleshooter, able to adapt and evolve with the team and company, with a willingness to lead, manage, and resolve cross-functional legal and operational matters. This role is a key member of the legal team and will be a critical player in driving Astound’s business model, commercial contracting, compliance, data privacy protection, HR/employment, and executing on Astound’s mergers and acquisitions growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities

Interact with and support various groups across the company, with a primary focus on commercial contracting, data privacy, employment/HR, compliance, and M&A.

Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts with technology partners, vendors, and customers, with a strong emphasis on professional services, SaaS, software licensing, and software development engagements.

Provide legal advice on employment/HR matters. Review and revise HR policies. Oversee HR/Employment Pre-Litigation and Litigation matters.

Provide legal advice on privacy and information security matters to other Legal Department team members and cross-functional teams such as information security, procurement, product, and engineering teams.

Provide legal advice with respect to handling general compliance, privacy and information security-related customer and regulatory inquiries and investigations.

Manage/update policies and procedures to comply with applicable jurisdictional laws, regulations, and best practices globally on compliance issues such as anti-corruption, anti-bribery, export control compliance, and conflicts of interest.

Advise on a broad range of strategic legal and business matters.

Conduct or coordinate research into legal questions and issues that are brought up by the business as we seek to solve problems in new ways.

Legal process creation (drafting and operationalization) for local and global legal/operational units.

Work with and direct outside counsel on advice, research, filings, disclosures, and other projects as needed.
Qualifications

A Law degree or equivalent legal qualification from an accredited institution.

Active license to practice law and in good standing with a governing body.

7+ years of professional in-house work experience.

5+ years of working with USA and international based companies.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.

Excellent legal project management skills.

The ability to independently multitask and prioritize projects.

The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Desire to be a teacher, leader, and student, as is expected from all team members.

Proficiency in MS Office, Google Apps (G Suite), and cloud-based applications generally.

Previous experience with CRM based task management tools (i.e. JIRA / Confluence) is preferred.
