[Hiring] Privacy and Data Protection Counsel @Real REMAX Group

Role Description

We’re looking for a Privacy and Data Protection Counsel to join our Legal team. In this role, you’ll be working as a motivated attorney who enjoys solving complex problems. You will work closely with Real’s product and engineering teams to provide legal guidance on a wide range of legal issues, including privacy and data security, related to the product development lifecycle. This role is responsible for helping to navigate rules regarding a fintech company, which has broad market impact through an evolving and complex financial legal and regulatory environment. The position is fully remote.

What You’ll Do

• Counsel our Product, Marketing and business teams throughout the product lifecycle on applicable legal and regulatory requirements and risks.
• Anticipate and identify legal and regulatory risks, and propose creative and effective solutions to mitigate these risks with a business-focused mindset.
• Draft and negotiate commercial agreements in support of the business and its initiatives.
• Create and enforce data privacy policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Oversee data governance, data mapping and retention policies.
• Ensure vendors comply with the organization's data privacy and security requirements.
• Remain up-to-date on relevant industry and consumer protection laws and regulations.
• Partner with the Marketing and go to market teams to ensure compliance of all consumer facing materials.
• Partner with the broader Legal & Compliance team in various other corporate and enterprise initiatives as such opportunities arise.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and application of consumer protection laws and regulations such as RESPA, UDAAP, CCPA, GDPR, TCPA, and GLBA.
• A willingness to dig-in and learn new technology is critical. This role requires digital fluency or – at a minimum – a willingness to learn.

Requirements

• 7+ years experience in a product counsel role at a law firm or in-house legal department.
• Experience in a law firm or in-house corporate environment working specifically on regulatory compliance.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs required (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
