Role Description
UN Women is seeking National Consultants – Legal Experts for strategic litigation on issues regarding violence against women and girls (VAWG), domestic violence (DV), LGBTIQ+ individuals, and women with disabilities. The consultants will be responsible for:

Providing expert legal analysis and advice on cases related to VAWG, DV, discrimination, and violence against LGBTIQ+ persons and women with disabilities.

Identifying, assessing, and developing strategic litigation cases with the potential to advance legal protection, accountability, and systemic change.

Engaging directly with survivors adhering to ethical standards and survivor safeguarding obligations.

Representing survivors’ interests before judicial and quasi-judicial bodies at national, regional, and international levels.

Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including strategic litigation strategies and legal opinions.

Conducting legal research and comparative analysis on relevant case law and legislation.

Supporting the use of international human rights mechanisms.

Coordinating closely with civil society organizations and other stakeholders.

Contributing to risk assessments and mitigation measures related to strategic litigation.

Providing technical inputs to capacity-building activities and policy discussions.

Performing any other related tasks as required for the successful implementation of the programme.
Qualifications

University degree (Master’s) in law; a Bachelor’s degree in law with additional relevant experience may be considered.

At least five (5) years of professional experience as a licensed attorney-at-law.

Experience in litigation before national courts.

At least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in gender equality and women’s rights.

Demonstrated experience in strategic litigation or legal advocacy related to human rights.

Experience cooperating with civil society organizations or international organizations on litigation related to gender equality.

Experience addressing intersectional discrimination is considered a strong asset.

Fluency in Georgian and good knowledge of English is required.
