Role Description

We are sharing a specialised consulting opportunity for experienced U.S. litigators and practising attorneys with strong expertise in legal reasoning, litigation strategy, legal writing, and complex case analysis to contribute to advanced AI training and evaluation initiatives. Selected attorneys will evaluate AI-generated briefs, arguments, memoranda, and other legal work; identify factual and legal weaknesses; provide expert judgement on ambiguous cases; and develop high-quality examples that strengthen AI performance across litigation and legal-practice scenarios. No prior AI experience is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Legal Reasoning & Litigation Analysis
    • Apply litigation experience to complex legal scenarios
    • Evaluate the strength and coherence of legal arguments
    • Assess reasoning against applicable legal principles
    • Identify unsupported conclusions or analytical gaps
    • Apply professional judgement to difficult or ambiguous issues
  • AI Legal Output Evaluation
    • Review AI-generated briefs, arguments, and memoranda
    • Assess outputs for factual and legal accuracy
    • Evaluate analytical rigour and professional quality
    • Identify logical inconsistencies and substantive errors
    • Provide detailed recommendations for improvement
  • Legal Writing & Argument Development
    • Draft and edit sample legal language
    • Develop clear and persuasive legal arguments
    • Improve structure, precision, and analytical clarity
    • Demonstrate professional litigation-writing standards
    • Create examples across varied litigation scenarios
  • Complex Case Calibration
    • Evaluate nuanced and legally ambiguous edge cases
    • Distinguish clearly supportable conclusions from uncertain outcomes
    • Explain competing legal interpretations where appropriate
    • Apply calibrated judgement to fact-sensitive scenarios
    • Support consistent evaluation of difficult legal questions
  • Feedback & Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Provide precise written feedback on legal outputs
    • Explain legal reasoning to interdisciplinary project teams
    • Incorporate iterative feedback into evaluation work
    • Collaborate asynchronously across project workflows
    • Maintain consistent professional standards across assignments

Qualifications

  • JD from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school
  • Active law licence in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 3–15 years of post-JD legal experience
  • Strong preference for trial, appellate, or litigation specialists
  • Deep expertise in legal reasoning and litigation practice
  • Strong analytical judgement across complex legal issues
  • Exceptional legal-writing capabilities
  • Ability to identify factual, legal, and logical weaknesses precisely
  • Strong communication skills and attention to professional detail
  • Judicial clerkship experience at the federal or state level is highly valued
  • Trial-court or appellate clerkship experience is particularly relevant
  • Substantial trial experience is advantageous
  • Federal court admissions are valuable
  • Appellate-practice experience enhances candidacy
  • Law journal editorial or published legal-writing experience is advantageous
  • Prior law-school teaching, adjunct, lecturer, fellow, or comparable instructional experience is desirable
  • No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required

  • Independent contractor engagement

  • Compensation: $100–$180/hour
  • Work will involve legal reasoning, litigation analysis, AI-output evaluation, legal writing, and complex-case calibration
  • Assignments may include briefs, arguments, memoranda, and other litigation-related materials
  • Strong written communication and analytical precision are central to the engagement
  • Contributors will be expected to provide detailed reasoning rather than conclusory assessments
  • Work will primarily be completed asynchronously with a cross-functional project team
  • Project materials and legal scenarios may vary depending on research and evaluation requirements
  • No prior AI experience is required
  • Work must be completed without using confidential, privileged, sealed, client-specific, work-product-protected, or otherwise restricted information belonging to any employer, client, law firm, court matter, or other third party
