[Hiring] SAP Basis Administrator @RTX

Role Description

This position provides technical ownership of the SAP Basis landscape supporting RTX's enterprise application environment. The SAP Basis Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day stability, performance, and security of SAP systems, working autonomously to maintain a resilient technical foundation that enables the business to operate without interruption. This role sits within the Application Technical Services (ATS) organization and partners closely with platform services, application security, and enterprise integration teams to ensure SAP systems are reliable, secure, and positioned to scale with RTX's evolving technology needs.

• Administer, monitor, and maintain SAP Basis environments (ECC, S/4HANA, and associated SAP NetWeaver systems).
• Perform SAP system installations, upgrades, patching, and technical migrations.
• Manage transport administration across the SAP landscape.
• Own system performance tuning and capacity planning.
• Administer SAP client environments, including client copies and refreshes.
• Execute and validate backup and disaster recovery procedures.
• Monitor system health using SAP Solution Manager and related tooling.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to support secure-by-design principles and DevSecOps practices.
• Document technical procedures, runbooks, and configuration standards.
• Coach and review the work of lower-level Basis professionals.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Experience with administering SAP Basis environments, including system installation, upgrades, patching, and transport management.
• Experience working with SAP system architecture, including database administration fundamentals and application server configuration.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
• Experience coaching or reviewing the work of peer technical professionals.
• Experience with enterprise SAP systems, with the ability to identify and implement improvements.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with limited oversight.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Basis administration and migration projects.
• Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager, database administration (HANA, Oracle), and system monitoring tools.
• Experience working within a near-shore, offshore, or multi-site global delivery model.
• Working knowledge of SAP security and authorization concepts.
• Experience supporting SAP systems within a large, complex, regulated enterprise environment.
• Familiarity with ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira) and change/incident management processes.
• Exposure to automation, scripting, or Infrastructure as Code practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
