Role Description

The primary responsibility for the Network / UC SME position is to plan, design, deploy, and continue to support a mission critical project for the Cisco UC Manager and Session Border Controller (SBC) platform. Technologies utilized by the Enterprise UC Network Engineer SME include:

• Multiple Switch vendors
• Juniper
• Ruckus
• Aruba
• Cisco switches
• Palo Alto Firewall
• Panorama
• Wireless

The position also requires demonstrated competence in LAN/WAN technologies. The UC Network Engineer SME is responsible for the coordination of cross-functional teams in relation to the deployment and support of the physical/virtual network infrastructure, which includes technologies such as:

• VMWare
• Linux
• Windows Server
• Physical Servers
• Enterprise storage arrays

Responsibilities:

• Collaboration - Participate in business planning meetings to understand and recommend the best technical, most cost-effective, network solutions that meet initial capacity, long-term scalability and growth, and performance requirements.
• Change Control - Adhere and follow all change management policies to ensure that the work is documented and meets the organizational requirements.
• Documentation - Document administrative items, projects, and support issues as needed to provide a reference to team members, other teams, and management.
• Incident and Request Management - All incidents and requests should adhere to the organizational requirements.
• Knowledge Sharing - Share both technical and non-technical knowledge with team members in both formal and informal manners.
• Personal Development - Seek ways to develop in areas that are technical in nature and non-technical where relevant to the current role.
• Project Support and Lead - Serve as a project lead or resource for the Enterprise Network Engineering Team for the deployment of Enterprise level initiatives.
• Status Reports - Submit status reports as requested to the team manager and verbally during team meetings.
• Network Project Documentation UC Engineer - Design, plan, deploy, upgrade, and provide operational support for an Enterprise deployment of the Cisco UC Manager and Session Border Controllers.
• UC Network Infrastructure Support - Provide the required network support for the deployment of infrastructure UC architecture, processes and reports.
• UC Network Administration - Perform the required work associated with UC network administration.
• Monitoring and Optimization - Manage and participate in the monitoring, optimization and diagnosis of currently deployed network systems.
• Security - Work closely with the Manager and the Enterprise Security Architecture Team to plan, design, implement, support, and monitor security initiatives.
• Technical System Support - Collaborate with the Enterprise Network Engineer Service Leads and the Enterprise Network Architect to implement, configure, and support the Enterprise UC Network Infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain TS security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• In-depth knowledge of Cisco Voice infrastructure, Cisco Call manager, Voice Gateways, Unity and UCCx.
• Experience designing, deploying and sustaining Cloud SaaS VoIP providers.
• 8570 Compliant / CCNP Voice OS cert or ability to obtain.

Requirements

• 10 Years Technology Experience (Voice/Video).
• DoD Unified Communications, Session Border Controller 3 to 5 years’ experience.
• SIP Trucking configuration and troubleshooting including SIP/SIPS(TLS), RTP/SRTP, Codecs, Call Routing, etc.
• Experience designing and transitioning multiple site migrations.
• Troubleshoot high severity issues as a Tier IV operational UC subject matter expert.
• Strong experience with Enterprise Contact Center Solutions.
• Proven skills in both verbal and written communication.
• Technical writing skills.
• B.A or B.S. in a degree such as Computer Science, Information Systems or Information Technology or 10 years related experience.
• CCNP Voice/Collaboration or Avaya Aura Certification.
