[Hiring] Senior Payroll Analyst @AvonRisk

Role Description

The Senior Payroll Analyst runs and safeguards payroll for a rapidly growing workers' compensation and liability third-party administrator (TPA). The Company pays employees across many states and several legal entities, and it grows by acquisition. This role processes and reviews payroll each cycle, owns multi-state payroll tax compliance, reconciles payroll to the general ledger, and is the hands-on lead for converting acquired payrolls. It is a senior individual-contributor seat, the principal partner and backup to the Payroll Manager, and is expected to operate with a high degree of independence. This role reports to the Payroll Manager and is remote based in Rocklin, CA.

Responsibilities

• Process biweekly and off-cycle payrolls in Paylocity for multiple legal entities and divisions.
• Review every payroll register before approval.
• Own multi-state payroll tax compliance.
• Review quarterly and annual payroll tax filings, W-2s, and amendments.
• Lead the payroll side of acquisitions and integrations.
• Reconcile payroll to the general ledger in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
• Prepare each cycle's funding schedule by entity for Treasury.
• Reconcile benefit and 401(k) deductions to carrier and recordkeeper invoices.
• Administer garnishments, levies, and child support orders.
• Partner with HR on new hires, status changes, terminations, and final pay.
• Maintain payroll controls.
• Support the annual external audit and other audits with payroll schedules and documentation.
• Answer employee payroll and tax questions promptly and confidentially.

Qualifications

• Hands-on multi-state payroll processing and tax compliance experience.
• Experience converting or consolidating payrolls from another provider.
• Working knowledge of FLSA and state wage-and-hour rules.
• Paylocity experience strongly preferred; experience with another enterprise payroll platform considered.
• Understanding of how payroll lands in the general ledger.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• The control instinct to ensure every payment is approved.
• Strict confidentiality and sound judgment with compensation and personal data.
• Ability to manage overlapping deadlines across several entities.
• Experience in a multi-entity or acquisitive company preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent payroll experience.
• Approximately 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 3 years processing multi-state payroll for 500 or more employees.

Compensation

Salary Range: $72,500-$85,000 annually. The salary range listed is an estimate. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors such as a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skill set, and work location. Position is eligible for AvonRisk’s full benefits package.
