Role Description

As ATB’s next Senior Compensation Specialist, you won’t just be evaluating numbers—you’ll be helping to shape the total reward strategies that motivate our people and drive business success. Reporting directly to the Managing Director of Compensation, this high-impact role is designed for a seasoned total rewards professional who understands the unique complexities of wealth management and financial industry compensation structures.

• Serve as a key strategic partner to our People & Culture team and business leaders.
• Ensure compensation practices remain innovative, market-competitive, and grounded in sound governance.
• Experience with wealth or financial industry compensation plans, as well as an interest or background in leadership.

Accountabilities

• Design and Strategically Advise on and Evaluate Wealth Compensation Strategies:
  • Partner with ATB’s Wealth business leaders to deliver strategic recommendations and actionable insights.
  • Conduct market analysis and tailor compensation strategies to meet the unique competitive landscape of the financial services sector.
• Complex Incentive & Reward Programs:
  • Administer and align key reward mechanisms, including a pool-based short-term incentive (STI) plan and an RSU-style long-term incentive (LTI) program.
  • Ensure balance between paying for performance, retaining talent, risk mitigation, and governance requirements.
• Act as a Trusted Strategic Partner:
  • Translate ATB's compensation philosophy into practical guardrails for client groups.
  • Solve complex business challenges and serve as the primary subject matter expert for compensation-related inquiries.
• Data & Benchmarking:
  • Drive market competitiveness by researching external trends and participating in compensation survey networks.
  • Synthesize complex datasets into high-impact recommendations for senior stakeholders.
• Lead Digital Efficiency & Systems Optimization:
  • Leverage and advance compensation-specific tools and technologies—specifically SAP SuccessFactors.
  • Streamline administrative workflows, enhance data precision, and optimize execution across dispersed teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive compensation advisor experience.
• Deep domain knowledge of compensation models, complex variable incentive plans, and industry-specific pay dynamics.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in leading compensation teams.
• Sharp critical thinking skills with a proven ability to analyze complex data sets.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Expertise using compensation technology platforms—specifically SAP SuccessFactors.
• A high degree of adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Proven ability to interpret market benchmarks and design reward strategies that support organizational goals.
• Ability to simplify technical compensation concepts into compelling messaging for stakeholders.
• Proficiency in modern productivity tools such as Google Workspace (G-Suite).
• Collaborative approach to working across geographically dispersed teams.
